A MAJOR Rangers fans group today called on Ibrox shareholders to hand over their voting rights at next month's AGM.

Supporters chiefs pleaded with fellow fans to gift their votes and urged: "The bigger the collective shareholding we, the fans, have the more of a say we can have."

The plea came from the Rangers Supporters Trust, who hold around 0.86% of the shares in the club, as club bosses are expected to confirm that their AGM will be held on Monday, December 22.

The Light Blues board have until the end of the year to face shareholders at what is likely to be a stormy affair.

And Accounts for Rangers International Football Club plc are also likely to be released in the coming days.

McGill's Buses owner Sandy Easdale owns more than 5% of the company - but holds the proxy voting rights for over 20%.

Rangers Supporters Trust members believe if smaller shareholders proxy their voting rights to the group, the potential combined shareholding could be in the region of 11%.

A statement read: "The Rangers Supporters Trust are offering all Rangers supporters who possess individual shareholding in the club, the opportunity to combine together.

"This is a chance for all of such Rangers Supporters who, literally, have had to watch these events from the side lines, to actually create a force which can influence future events at our club.

"This is a truly honest attempt by Rangers fans to create a bond which has been missing. This is a plea and an offer from ordinary people with Rangers at heart to galvanise and act together.

"We truly hope it is seen in that light."

Ahead of last year's AGM, Rangers manager Ally McCoist gifted his votes to the Calderwood Rangers Supporters Club in his home town of East Kilbride.
