A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found on Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh last month.

Police Scotland today named the victim as 66-year old Phyllis Dunleavy of Dublin.

Her remains were found on June 6, 2013 and police launched an appeal for information after experts recreated her facial image.

Her 39-year-old son, Andrew, is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Ms Dunleavy was identified following a major police appeal that spanned the globe.

Her dismembered remains gave detectives few clues but they circulated photographs of the distinctive rings she wore and published details of her dental work in dentist trade magazines in a bid to solve the mystery.

The investigation team received more than 30 calls from members of the public as far afield as Israel after releasing a facial reconstruction image.

The picture was produced by experts at Dundee University using CT scans of the woman's skull.

Police said on Friday they had identified the body before naming Ms Dunleavy today.
