Director Danny Boyle today returned to the Glasgow location where a scene from the cult classic Trainspotting was filmed - but this time he was in town for a spot of shopping.

Boyle was spotted in the city centre walking past the George Hotel on West George Street where the scene featuring a drug deal in a London hotel room was filmed.

The director, who also filmed his 1994 movie Shallow Grave in the city, made his way through Buchanan Street where he was spotted by Evening Times production journalist Norrie Wilson.

Wilson asked him, "Is it you?" and Boyle replied, "Yes it is," before the pair shook hands. Wilson said later: "I wished him an enjoyable stay in Glasgow."

Boyle is also known for films Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later and 127 Hours, and directed the opening ceremony at the London Olympics in 2012.
