DEVASTATED students gathered at a city university campus to remember tragic Karen Buckley.

Around 200 people attended the memorial, where the 24-year-old's friends and fellow students read poems and sang Irish songs. Karen, who was originally from Cork, moved to Glasgow in January to study occupational therapy at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Many brought floral tributes to Karen, whose body was found at a farm north of the city four days after she went missing on a night out.

Cards and messages were also left at the GCU campus. One note, attached to a floral bouquet read: "The world is a different place without you and I am confident that you're somewhere in a happy place now. Words cannot express how much I am going to miss you."

Another message read: "Your last words to me that night were that you loved me and I am so grateful for that.

"You're an amazing, special girl and I hope you're happy."

Karen vanished during a night out with friends at a Glasgow nightclub in the early hours of last Sunday.

She was last seen leaving the Sanctuary, in Dumbarton Road, Partick.

Her remains were found at High Craigton Farm, near Milngavie, following a massive search operation.

The vigil was organised by GCU's Students' Association.

It came after a man appeared in court in connection with Karen's death.

Alexander Pacteau, 21, is expected to appear in court again later this week.

Last night's memorial event followed two other vigils held in the city.

On Saturday, neighbours held a silent vigil in a park off Hill Street, where Karen lived, and more than 300 people attended a memorial in George Square on Friday evening.
