A teenager who recreates famous film scenes using Lego has appeared on a US TV show to launch his latest animation.

Morgan Spence, 15, was interviewed on late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he unveiled his recreation of a scene from Wes Anderson movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Morgan featured on the show via a video link, in which host Kimmel told him: "You're a very talented kid."

The teenager, from Kilbarchan in Renfrewshire, has already chalked up millions of views of his stop-motion animations online since he started more than three years ago.

Classic scenes he has recreated using the plastic bricks include those from hit films such as ET, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Dirty Dancing and The Shining.

After some of the clips were shown on the programme, Kimmel commented: "That's very impressive work for a 15-year-old, I'll tell you that."

Morgan agreed that he has been a "Lego-maniac" since he was a young child and admitted he had even swallowed a piece in the past.

"I've always had a love of Lego ever since I was three years old and it's still my hobby now," he said.

He went on: "It depends on how complex the film I'm recreating is, but usually, for say a minute of film, (it can take) a couple of weeks."

Morgan said he plans to study film-making, telling the show: "I think that would be a really interesting career to pursue and certainly film school is where I'd like to go eventually."

When his new clip from The Grand Budapest Hotel was unveiled for the first time, the talk show host praised the work, saying: "That's great, very nicely done."

A tweet from the teenager's Morgspenny Productions account later said the interview "went well".
