Ed Miliband urged voters to add a new dimension to the referendum and vote no with their soul.

As well as the arguments of the head and heart, he added soul during a speech in Cumbernauld.

He said as well as the economic arguments of the head, the family ties and shared history of the heart the arguments of the sod was the solidarity and social justice values of the Labour Party.

He issued a plea to scots "please stay with us".

In a plea aimed at Labour voters Mr Miliband said: "Our movement was founded on solidarity. That is what it is to be Labour.

"Scotland's values of fairness, justice and equality have shone through in this campaign.

"To meet these values we have to change our country. From the head. From the heart from the soul, lets change Britain together. Together we can do that."
