FOOTBALL supporters will pay just 10p to see Hamilton Academical in action tomorrow.

The South Lanarkshire club announced that all fans attending Saturday's match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle will pay a heavily discounted admission price.

The Scottish Premiership match at New Douglas Park will mark assistant manager Frankie McAvoy's last game with the club before he goes to Norwich City.

Mr McAvoy arrived at the Accies with Alex Neil 10 years ago and - with Mr Neil having already departed for Norwich - the club have decided to mark the anniversary with the gesture. The reduced price applies to both home and away fans.

Vice chairman Ronnie Macdonald said: "Saturday's match against Inverness CT at New Douglas Park marks Frankie McAvoy's last game as an 'Academical'.

"Both he and Alex Neil have given us wonderful service in their time at the club, both of them served us for 10 years, and of course Alex wore the number 10 jersey with distinction

"As a mark of the esteem we hold them in, we have designated Saturday's game as a tribute to these significant 10's and will make the admission charge for all spectators, home or away, just 10p.

"We look forward to welcoming all our loyal supporters, and perhaps some new ones, to send Frankie, and Alex, off with the acclaim they deserve."

It came as Inverness staged their "pay what you can" match against St Johnstone on Tuesday.

The move, to boost attendances, has been welcomed by fans on social media sites. On Twitter Daniel Strachan said: "Terrific idea, just hope it actually gets folk out to the game."

Colin Stewart, also posting on Twitter, said: "Excellent gesture. Hope public take it to heart and come out and support the teams.

"Keep on believing. Cmon the Accies!"

Last year, Scottish League Two side Albion Rovers offered season tickets for as little as £10 in a "pay what you can" scheme to try and boost sales.
