A fleet of Glasgow black cabs have been kitted out in vibrant pink as part of a new Glasgow marketing campaign.

Ten taxis have received the makeover to promote the city's new People Make Glasgow brand. The cab drivers have also been given ruby shirts embossed with the People Make Glasgow brand.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau is working with Glasgow Taxis on the marketing campaign.

The cabs are already becoming a star attraction in their own right with visitors and local regularly asking if they can pose for photos with them.

Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: "The People Make Glasgow brand reflects the warmth and genuine friendliness of Glasgow and we are delighted to now have it prominently displayed across a fleet of Glasgow Taxis.

"There's a great natural synergy between what we do to promote the city, and what taxi drivers across Glasgow are doing every day as they share their expertise on the city's attractions with the millions of tourists and conference delegates who visit Glasgow each year.

"First and last impressions of the city are delivered to visitors by our friendly cabbies, who we prize as Glasgow's ambassadors. They are an enviable asset to the city - one which we have always recognised and are extremely proud to support."

Stephen Flynn, Vice Chairman, Glasgow Taxis, said: "As destination ambassadors, we take pride in offering a first class service to tourists and locals alike and are delighted to be associated with the People Make Glasgow brand.

"Glasgow is famous for its personality and friendliness and, with so much going on over the next 12 months, the new brand encapsulates exactly what the city is all about. We think the branded taxis look absolutely fantastic and they are already proving extremely popular with our customers."
