The Institute of Neurosciences (INS) building will be joined to the hospitals, meaning that when they open, patients and staff will be able to move between the maternity unit, children's hospital, adult hospital and the site's research and learning centres, without going outside.
During its installation, tomorrow, the main road through the Southern General site will be closed and diversions put in place.
Construction will involve sections of the walkway being transported along Govan Road into Renfrew Road, Shieldhall Road, and then left into Hardgate, where they will enter the grounds past the maternity building.
There is no parking in the area where the works will take place and the road will be closed from 7am.
Signage will be erected to guide patients and visitors to the alternative routes which will be in place for the day.
Due to the works taking place at the front of the INS building, it will be necessary to prevent all access from this entrance and instead this building will be accessed via the walkway from the Neurology Building.
Internal signs will be put up giving information about the route of the diversion.
A patient drop off area will be available at the front of the Neurology Building.
On Sunday, public transport will not operate through the hospital grounds. Passengers will be directed to bus stops on Govan Road.
