A WEDDING dress is going on display to raise awareness about Scotland's pioneering forced marriage protection legislation.
The dress is part of an exhibit at North Lanarkshire Council's Kildonan Street building in Coatbridge.
Messages highlighting the consequences of forced weddings are attached to the dress and include some from those with first-hand experience of forced marriage.
Some of the powerful statements include: "My choice and my freedom to choose" and "Stay strong, speak out, get help".
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP is among those who have attached messages of support to the dress which is touring the country and will be in Coatbridge on Thursday and Friday.
Councillor Sam Love, North Lanarkshire Council's social work convenor, said: "The dress is spectacular, but more importantly raises awareness about the serious impact forced marriages can have on individuals and families.
"As a council, we are supporting '16 Days of Action' which is an international campaign against gender-based violence and highlights human rights concerns."
