THE power of the River Cart could be used to light up historic Pollok House.
If the scheme proves a success, it could be extended to connect it to the Burrell Collection which is due to close this year for a major five year refurbishment.
The city council is considering going back to the future and setting up the city's first micro hydro electric power plant in Pollok Country Park.
A feasibility study has been carried out which found the mini hydro scheme could operate beside a 19th century former sawmill in the park.l
Originally, the sawmill had a wooden water wheel to drive equipment such as bench saws and lathes.
It was replaced in the late 19th century with turbines which generated electricity for Pollok House.
