WEAK levels of domestic and consumer demand are contributing to a fragile Scottish economy, according to a business survey.
Despite positive signs in the manufacturing, construction and tourism industries, low demand remains a major problem for increased activity in most sectors, the Scottish Chambers of Commerce said.
In a joint survey with the University of Strathclyde's Fraser of Allander Institute, the majority of businesses – except those in the oil and gas sector – identified lack of demand as a barrier to growth.
