HAPPY couple Kirsten MacDonald and Gavin Smith spied out the lie of the land as they took steps to plan their wedding day.
The lucky winners of the Evening Times Wedding competition visited Melville Castle Hotel, in Edinburgh, after winning the £10,000 prize.
The delighted couple took the top spot after staff from Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride jammed the hotline with votes.
Kirsten, 33, who is a speech therapist at the hospital, and husband-to-be Gavin, will enjoy a no-expense-spared bash at Melville Castle surrounded by family and friends.
Everything from Kirsten's all-important gown to their tiered wedding cake and limousine will be taken care of by the top team of wedding specialists.
The couple, both from Edinburgh, met while working for the Royal Bank of Scotland and love blossomed.
Ahead of their special day Kirsten and Gavin, 34, who helps rehabilitate stroke patients, met up with Jane Dayus-Hinch, Melville Castle wedding planner at the upmarket venue.
