THE wife of a radio DJ described coming home to find a naked teenage boy tied up in the living room.

Joanne O'Connor was giving evidence in the trial of her husband John Young, who was accused of attacking her.

She said she came home early from work one afternoon and let herself into the house.

Ms O'Connor, 48, added: "I knew our marriage was in trouble when I found an 18-year-old boy naked and bound in the living room."

She added that Young smashed up his vast collection of music CDs, amassed during his former career, in the previous incident.

Young, of Kilwinning Ayrshire, had denied assaulting and injuring Ms O'Connor by grabbing her hair and chest in the town in November 2014.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard the couple's daughter, who heard shouting and swearing, came into the room and said: "What are you arguing about now?"

Giving evidence in his own defence, Young, 49, said he "came out" as gay following the incident in November 2014.

Young, who worked in community radio until last year, added: "My wife accused me of being a paedophile."

The former West Sound Radio and Irvine Beat FM DJ, who works for North Ayrshire Council, said a clock that had been in his family for 70 years was damaged in the clash.

He denied touching his wife and said if he had tried, she would have "decked me" because of her social work training.

Depute fiscal Peter Moyes, prosecuting, asked: "Is decking someone a part of social work training?" Young did not reply.

Young, of Kilwinning, Ayrshire, was found guilty of assault and fined £300 by Sheriff Brian Murphy with 28 days to pay.

The court heard Young's council job could now be at risk because of his conviction.
