STORMS battered Scotland for the second day running as flood warnings remained in place for much of the country.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) warned that gales and large waves could result in flooding at high tide along the west coast.

And yellow "be aware" warnings of high winds are in place for the Highlands, Western Isles, Orkney, Shetland and Argyll and Bute.

Yesterday, Glasgow saw winds of up to 46mph, but it's good news for the coming days as the city returns to average December weather.

Paul Knightley, a forecaster with Meteogroup, said: "Wednesday is the only day to look out for.

"Monday and Tuesday will see a mix of showers and sunshine, with fairly mild temperatures of 11C.

"By Wednesday, squally rain and hail will return to the city."
