COMMUNITY groups and businesses in in Renfrewshire are being offered shovels to help ensure they are prepared for severe weather this winter.
The scheme is part of the council's Ready for Winter Campaign which aims to keep the people moving in the event of heavy snow.
It includes advice on how to prepare an emergency pack, avoiding frozen and burst pipes, clearing driveways and paths and how to keep safe when driving.
Eddie Devine, convener of the council's environment policy board, said: "We have had a number of mild winters recently but it is vital Renfrewshire is prepared for severe winter weather.
"Severe weather conditions can make things particularly tough for elderly or vulnerable in the community, so we would encourage everyone to keep an eye on their neighbours and help out if you can."
