Woman, 89, mugged in 'terrifying' attack

A PENSIONER was mugged by a young woman in a "terrifying" city centre attack.

The 89-year-old was walking in St George's Road in Glasgow on Sunday at around 7pm when she was robbed.

The young woman grabbed her handbag, which contained a small amount of money and paperwork, and left the pensioner badly shaken.

The attacker, who is described as white, between 20 and 30 years of age, of slim build and between 5ft 1ins and 5ft 5ins tall, ran off north towards Garscube Road.

She had dark hair which was tied back, and was wearing a brown or black belted jacket, light jeans and light trainers.

Police officers are reviewing CCTV images of the area.

Constable Katy Allan, from the City Centre Police Office, said: "This was a terrifying and cowardly attack on a vulnerable, elderly woman."
