A WOMAN was left with serious facial injuries after a "violent and terrifying" lane attack.

 

The 22-year-old woman was rushed to Crosshouse hospital for surgery after being set upon on Sunday May 10, around 1.05am.

The attack happened in Irvine, in a lane leading from High Street to the car park at East Road.

Police are now appealing for help to trace four men they want to speak to in connection with the brutal incident.

The first man is described at 5ft11, late twenties, thin, with short dark wavy hair and thick dark stubble.

He has a sleeve style tattoo from his left elbow to halfway down his forearm and was wearing a long sleeved dark blue hooded top with the sleeves rolled up and dark trousers.

The second man is described as 5ft11, late twenties, thin, with short blond hair at the sides which is longer on top and styled with gel.

He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.

The third man is described as 5ft11, late twenties, thin with short sandy coloured hair.

The fourth man was described as in his late twenties with light coloured hair.

Detective Constable Keith Runcie from North Ayrshire CID said: "This was a violent and terrifying assault on a young woman which left her badly shaken and requiring surgery.

"It is very important that we trace these men as quickly as possible to assist with our investigation.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.
