WORK will get underway this week to make a cycle route safer for residents.
A dirt path used by cyclists in the Barrhead area is being paved and lit.
It will see a cycle path created from Kerr Street at the entrance to McDairmid Park to the park??s existing footpath. Street lighting will be installed.
East Renfrewshire Council??s housing services team is carrying out the work.
Some hedges in Kerr Street will be removed and replaced with fencing.
Councillor Danny Devlin, said: ??At the moment this is a well-trodden but unofficial link from people??s homes into the park and towards local amenities.
??This work will make it easier and safer to use."
