A LIBRARY has come up with a novel idea they are offering the loan of a spiritual adviser.

For the next fortnight not only will you be able to borrow, books, CDs or DVDs from Mearns Library, you can also borrow' a member of East Renfrewshire Faith Forum.

This pilot project came about as a suggestion by the Scottish Interfaith Council who had heard of a similar project which was carried out in Australian libraries.

Representatives from the Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Baha'i faiths will take part in the project.

Information about the volunteers and their contact details will be made available to those who want to find out more about these faiths.

As the volunteers have agreed to release their e-mail address or telephone number, members of the public can contact them to arrange a mutually agreeable time to meet.

The sessions will last about 45 minutes and will take place in Mearns library.
