1 Colin Montgomerie:
The Glasgow-born star represented Britain and Europe eight times between 1991 and 2006 and captained the team to victory in Wales in 2010. He never lost in a singles match and sank the winning putt in the 2004 victory.
2 Sam Torrance: Also played eight times, hit the winning putt in 1985 and captained the team to a memorable win in 2002.
3 Sandy Lyle: Played five times between 1979 and 1987.
4 Ken Brown: Now a commentator, he played in the tournament five times and was also a vice-captain under Mark James in the 1999 competition.
5 Brian Barnes: Notched up six appearances in the tournament in the 1960s and 70s, including two victories over Jack Nicklaus twice in one day in singles match play in the 1975 event.
6 Bernard Gallacher: Played eight times between 1969 and 1983 and was captain in 1991, 1993 and 1995.
7 Paul Lawrie: The Aberdonian has featured twice, helping Europe retain the Ryder Cup at Medinah in 2012.
8 John Panton: He represented GB three times in the 50s and 60s. His 1961 appearance included a 5&4 foursomes win over Billy Casper and Arnold Palmer.
9 Andrew Coltart: Played once in the 1999 "Battle of Brookline" in Massachusetts.
10 Gordon Brand Jnr: The Fifer played twice in the late 1980s.
