1 Renfrew The Paisley and Renfrew railway that ended at Renfrew Wharf closed in 1967.
2 Peterhead: The fishing port, one of the worlsd's biggest, lost its passenger service in 1965 and freight service in 1970.
3 Kilmacolm: Trains stopped running through the affluent town in 1983.
4 Galashiels: On the Waverley Line, it was closed in 1969 but is scheduled to reopen.
5 Elderslie: A busy junction, the grand four-platform station at Elderslie closed in 1966.
6 Ballachulish: Part of the Callander and Oban Railway, the Highland station closed in 1966.
7 Ballater: 1966 also saw the closure of the famous Royal Line from Aberdeen through Deeside.
8 St Andrews: The rail link to the home of golf was considered uneconomic and closed in 1969.
9 Aberfeldy: One of many in central Scotland to be axed, it was closed in 1965.
10 Castle Douglas: On the line between Dumfries and Stranraer, it closed in 1965.
