ANYONE whose child has been cared for at Glasgow's Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice will already know the level of dedication shown by staff.

And now the care team at the facility has been given official praise for its work after an unannounced visit from Healthcare Improvement Scotland inspectors.

The quality of the care given to the city's terminally ill children at the hospice has never been in question.

However, the building itself - in Calton Place - is not of the same high standard.

It is time for the carers at the hospice to be given a building to match their incredible commitment and dedication.

That is why the Evening Times has backed, and will continue to back, the drive to build a new, £15million Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice near Bellahouston Park.

The Healthcare Improvement Scotland report described staffing and the environment at the hospice as "excellent", and said the care, support and leadership on display was "very good".

The proposed new facility in the city's South Side would itself be nothing short of excellent, giving youngsters a truly special place to spend their last days, surrounded by their families and remarkable carers.
