This week, mum's the word! The best things to do in Glasgow this mothering Sunday, to show our maws that we care.

Maws: where would we be without them? Not here, swanning around the sunny streets of Glasgow that's for sure. So, if you're wondering how you can thank your Ma for all the breakfasts, lunches and dinners and 'treating her hoose like a hotel', here's some of the best make-her-day goings on in the city this Mothering Sunday.

Chocolate making at the Tennents Training Academy

Buying a box of chocolates is so Mother's Day 2013, this year, why not treat the sweetest lady in your life to a chocolate masterclass at the Tennents Training Academy.

There'll be champagne and chocolate (need I say more?) making at your very own chocolate 'station' with advice and demos from The Cook Schools in-house chefs. Yummy mummy!

Sloans musical bingo

If you want to show your Mama you love her, Mama, you care (thanks Spice Girls for the lyrics there) why not take her to Sloans Musical Bingo? She's your number one, so show her you care with a card and a dabber! It's free (so she'll be ever so proud that she brought you up to be so thrifty!), there's great prizes and what's more, nothing says 'I love you Mum' like a good old sing-a-long!

Arta cocktail making

If that's not to your Ma's tune, how about scrapping the bingo and going straight to the bar instead? Head to Arta for a hands-on making (and drinking) cocktail class. You'll learn how to mix up special concoctions Mummy's Girl and Mama Mia. Just try to avoid giving yourself the mother of all hangovers come Monday!

Corinthian movie night

If you're looking for something a bit more Sundayish, what about a Mother's Day movie night at the Corinthian? They're hosting two showings of Moulin Rouge at 3pm and 7pm, complete with wee drink and big bag of popcorn.

Butchershop Bar and Grill

And finally, she's made all your tea's since you were wee, so why not take her out for a slap-up dinner? The Butchershop Bar and Grill has a special Mother's Day menu this weekend but it's more than a meat feast, they're also giving a free glass of bubbly to every Mum that dines. Or should that be a glass of Mumm to every Mum that dines? Anyway, there's a few ideas to make this Sunday special for the most important lady in your life. I wont tell her you got them from me… mum's the word!

Wee Bird Recommends

There's plenty of places in Glasgow you can go to paint the town red… however next week, a very special art event kicks off in the city. From next Friday, Glasgow International will showcase the best of local and international contemporary art in venues across the city. Wee Bird recommends checking out their programme to find out more.
