IT'S inevitable that at some point in our lives we start to feel ourselves ageing.

Lines start to appear, grey hairs come a knocking and I actually had a full length conversation about patterned toilet roll with a friend of mine the other day.

All of my birthdays so far have come and gone and I don't remember even batting an eye lid but in exactly one week from today I will be turning the grand old age of 34 and I have to say, I'm not looking forward to it one little bit.

I'm not sure what the problem is really - my life is pretty great these days.

This year has already been amazing; I've signed back up for this year's pantomime, The Real Magical Adventures of Treasure Island, at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow again and after the massive success last year of my one woman show, I'm back at the Edinburgh Fringe in August at the festival's most exciting new venue, The Assembly Rooms in an intimate yurt-style tent in St Andrews Square Gardens.

My day to day work is always exciting. For example, on Monday I was sent to Crewe Toll Fire Station to have my picture taken with a group of hunky Firefighters for this year's Big Lunch event taking place on June 1, and let me tell you, I can think of far worse ways to start off my week.

I've got a beautiful apartment, a nice car and wonderful family, and yes lots of my friends are getting married and having babies, but I've always been a bit of a party girl and have to admit I find the whole single in the city life highly amusing.

Take Saturday night for example, I'm out having a rare old time with my friends and we end up in the new El Barrio Club in the city's Merchant City.

Fast forward to 11.45am on Sunday and I wake up to find a full cheese burger meal untouched in a bag in my kitchen - I'm sorry but you must admit finding something like that after a mammoth night out is the equivalent of winning the hangover lottery - and I'm sporting what appears to be a massive flower power tattoo down one side of my face (see above).

I know what you are thinking but I checked and there was no tiger in my bathroom or a baby in my cupboard.

Some of you reading this wouldn't thank me for that sort of life style but hey it works for me and I'm extremely happy, so why am I having such a difficult time turning 34?

Maybe it's just something that happens to everyone or maybe deep down I'm starting to panic that my life is passing me by and I need to get a move on and settle down and start a family ASAP.

Or maybe I'll stop getting myself in a twist about it all and instead throw a huge big birthday party and count my blessing for the unbelievable 33 years I've had already. As Coco Chanel said: "Nature gives you the face you have at 20; it is up to you to merit the face you have at 50."

My darling friend and one of the best actors this country has ever produced, Jimmy Chisholm, is to star in a brand new comedy Miller's Mountain on BBC One.

Its a comedy based around the antics of a ragtag family of Mountain Rescue volunteers and also stars the lovely Sharon Rooney and Sunshine on Leith's Kevin Guthrie.

I saw Jimmy recently and he seemed just so excited by this new project and quite rightly so as I've heard it's an absolute hoot and definitely not to be missed.

You can catch the first episode on Tuesday at 10.40pm on BBC One.

Congratulation to my dearest friends Carrie and Paul Fivey on the arrival of their beautiful little son Michael Charles Lynch Fivey born on Sunday.

He might have been 10 days late but after meeting the little man himself on Sunday night, I can tell you right now he was most definitely worth the wait.
