DEMAND for tickets for the Commonwealth Games has been phenomenal and will only heighten with the announcement Mo Farah is taking part.
The first release of tickets last year showed the high level of enthusiasm, so there should have been no underestimating the demand for the final tickets planned for release this week.
The frustration of those desperate to be a part of the sporting spectacular is understandable, but it has to be understood that with an operation of this size there can obviously be difficulties.
What is important is that the issues are resolved and the tickets are sold and delivered in plenty of time to those lucky enough to purchase them.
It would be unusual for a major international sporting event like this to go ahead without any problems in the preceding months, and what is important is that by the time July 23 comes along, the city is ready and fully prepared to begin the biggest show it has ever seen.
The focus needs to be on identifying the problems and applying achievable solutions to keep the Games on track.
Between now and the opening ceremony Glasgow needs to stay united and behind the efforts to ensure the Games are the success we all know they can and will be.
