2 The Rolling Stones: The Stones appealed to the bad boys and had successful 1960s tours of the US.
3 The Dave Clark Five: Appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show and had a US No 1 with Over and Over.
4 Herman's Hermits: Clean cut band had two US No 1s, Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter and I'm Henry the Eighth I Am.
5 The Kinks: Influential on both sides of the Atlantic they had several Top 10 US hits in the 60s.
6 The Animals: Thanks to House of the Rising Sun, the band were a huge hit in America.
7 Dusty Springfield: The Londoner had six top 20 US singles.
8 The Who: Found fame after appearing at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 and 1969's Woodstock.
9 Peter & Gordon: Duo had more success in the US than the UK, notably the Paul McCartney penned hit A World Without Love.
10 Manfred Mann: Had an early US No 1 with Do Wah Diddy Diddy in 1964.
