THE Communities right across the south of the city last night produced a wonderful array of people working hard to make life better for others.

From those, the latest Community Champion winners were announced and what a fnatastic dedicted group of winners they are.

Young and not-so-young, individually or in groups, paid or voluntary, they all have one thing in common - the desire to create an unbreakable community spirit that will result in improvements in people's lives.

The youth award went to Glasgow Disabled Scouts, who ensure that young people with complex support needs do not miss out on the opportunites others have and ensure they can be as active as possible.

Some of our winners have been dedicated to their projects for decades, such as individual award winner Anne Scott, who over 20 years, has made sure the Glasgow City Mission had a suitable base in Linthouse to deliver its work.

Ian McIntrye has 45 years service to his name and even an accident 14 years ago didn't stop him doing his work in the Boys' Brigade and local bowling club.

All our finalists and winners fully deserve their recognition and our thanks for the work they do which benefits so many people in our city.
