THEY came from all over the South of Glasgow to pay tribute to those who work to make our city a better place to live and work.

And they weren’t disappointed in the calibre of the finalists in the South Community Champion awards across a range of categories.

Whether working in teams or as individuals, in paid employment or volunteers the nominations were all worthy of their place on the shortlist.

We had people organising litter pick ups and making sure their streets are as clean as they can be, others whose work in the local community centre went a bit further than just a job and those who organise other volunteers to ensure residents groups and youth groups are strong not just in number but in influence.

Once again the communities across the south of the city proved that the fighting spiritis alive and well in Glasgow and that people working together can make a difference to the lives of themselves and others.

The winners receive our congratulations and a well deserved place in the city-wide grand final later this year.

But it is to each of the finalists and all the other nominees who make it a difficult decision to choose a winner from that all our thanks must go to.

We hope and look forward to many more years of their endeavours bearing fruit and inspiring others to take as much pride in their community.

We thank you, each and every one.
