1. Siamese cat – one of the first distinctly recognised breeds of Oriental cat.
2. Persian cat – long haired breed of cat characterised by its round face and short muzzle.
3. American Shorthair – A domestic cat believed to be descended from European cats brought to North America.
4. Birman – A long-haired, colourpointed cat distinguished by a silky coat.
5. Bombay cat – short-haird cats developed by breeding sable Burmese and black American shorthair cats.
6. Korat – A slate blue-gray short-haired breed of domestic cat with a small to medium build and low percentage of body fat.
7. Burmilla – Originated in the UK in 1981, it is a cross between a Chinchilla Persian and Burmese breeds.
8. Tabby cat – Also known as a grey tiger is a cat that has a coat featuring distinctive tripes, dots and lines.
9. The Ragdoll – This breed gets its name from the way these cats go completely limp in your arms when you pick them up.
10. The Sphynx – Known as the “Naked Climber” as it climbs anything and is lively and athletic.
