The art of trampolining first caught my eye in an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
The reality TV stars were bouncing to lose the ounces in one episode, and I thought to myself that looks fun, I need to try it.
And let's face it girls, any exercise that puts a smile on your face seems less of a chore, doesn't it?
So I decided to give a freestyle fitness class involving a trampoline a go at Air Space in East Kilbride.
Described as a unique fitness class that combines trampolining, parkour and dynamic/static exercises for the ultimate full-body workout, I took my friend Nicola along with me.
And the two of us had no idea just how much of a workout we were in for.

Glasgow Times:
On arrival, we were given special socks to help with the bounce no doubt - although no one actually confirmed that.
We were then taken to a safety briefing - and this is the moment I properly thought what have I let myself in for.
The safety instructor advised us after almost every sentence, "will result in death or injury".
At this point I was heading for the door, but I thought to myself don't be a wimp.

Glasgow Times:
We were then handed over to a lovely instructor Liam Hill (pictured above), who made us feel so welcome.
Liam explained we would start with a light warm up before doing some circuits.
And after the warm-up, I had that are we done yet? feeling but I wanted to bounce like a kid again so I fought through.
It might come as surprise giving how I am talking but I am no stranger to exercise. I spin most lunchtimes, I do a couple of Les Mills classes a week and I like to workout in the gym.
So I consider myself to have reasonable fitness.
I was so wrong, however, when I started doing this, I felt like I had not exercised in years. We were give basic circuits in short busts on the trampoling. Some were fun, some were tough but they all really tested my fitness and pushed me to the limit. Sadly I was not ambitious enough to move to the parkour stuff, I was in pain in place I never knew existed...in a good way though.
Liam explained that when you do exercises like squats and star jumps on a trampoline, you feel it more.
He said: "When you sink into the trampoline, it is working your core.
"You need a lot of core muscle to spring yourself out enough to get up."

Watch Liam do a Parkour stunt:

The classes were designed by YouTube acrobatics and parkour sensation Sam McFarlane, and anyone over 16 can take part.
The one-hour session, costs £13, and the part I was interested in was the fact that one session has been measured at burning off 500 calories and NASA research shows that 10 minutes of trampolining is akin to 30 minutes of running.
Sam said: "I was delighted when Air Space approached me to set up this class and I'm happy to have created this varied and explosive session.
"There's no denying it's hard work, but by using the full repertoire of equipment available at Air Space, it will be good fun too – one of the most important elements of retaining fitness. It's a full-body workout with a real focus on core strength, balance and cardiovascular. There will be some sore tums and bums afterwards, but the toning will be worth it!"

Sam was so right, I couldn't move the next day. I really enjoyed this class and I felt like it shocked my muscles into working hard. I was scared to begin with but once I got into it, I started to let go a bit more. This class is definately worth a try and being on a trampoline again, brought out the kid in me - and that is never a bad thing is it?
