I attended the Evening Times 53rd annual Scotswoman of the Year event or SWOTY as we called it - and what a night it was.

It is one of my favourite events simply for the fact it celebrates the great achievements of ordinary women. Plus it is an opportunity for us to get glammed-up.

The women who are nominated for SWOTY really are inspiring. They all have their own story but find inner strength to do something worthwhile to help others - and that act makes me very proud to be Scottish.

This year's winner Adele Patrick has worked tirelessly for 25 years in Glasgow's Women's Library, and was a much deserved recipent of the award. I am a big advocate of education as a university graduate and someone who constantly strives to learn new things. So I find the work that Adele does so valuable and I think we should all strive to make people aware of this resource and support it.

The real highlight of the night for me, however, has a slightly more showbiz angle. SWOTY has an annual raffle with money raised going to charity. This year, one of the prizes was a pair of tickets to see Peter Andre in concert. And the winner was none other than former Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont. I really hope Johann goes to the show but I heard a rumour amongst the guests that there was plenty of women vying up to swap those tickets. Will Johann be Peter Andre's Mysterious Girl?

The weekend starts right here:

Visit: Hello, My Name is Paul Smith at The Lighthouse in Glasgow

I have already spoke about the women who inspired me at SWOTY but now I need to talk about a certain designer who has given me some inspiration this week. I visited Hello, My Name is Paul Smith exhibition at The Lighthouse in Glasgow - and left feeling completely in awe of the fashion designer. The exhibition is essentially the story of Paul Smith, how he started and how he got to where he is now. I find people fascinating and I am a serial autobiograhy binger. I will read an autobiography by anyone remotely famous just because I love learning about how other people live, what makes them tick and I will be honest I am nosey, why else would I be a journalist? So now I have had an insight into Paul's life, I have to say I really admire him. His exhibition gave me a lot to think about and I urge you to see it while it is still in the city. It runs until March 20 and tickets are available here

Eat: Prep Fitness Kitchen, Bath Street

Whenever I visit London, I go to this amazing healthy restaurant called Gym's Kitchen. It is frequented by a lot of the TOWIE stars which is how I discovered and it really embraces the, "Eat Clean, Train Dirty" mantra. I have often said Glasgow needs a restaurant like this and now we have. Prep Fitness Kitchen in Bath Street embraces the whole meal prepping culture and high protein diet. I visited and sampled their Fruity Booty protein shake, Strawberry, Mango and coconut pancakes and a sweet baked potato filled with chilli hummus. The food was delicious and so filling. The staff were also really nice and so accomdating. I think it is a great addition to the Glasgow restaurant scene simply because it is healthy. There are so few healthy options when eating out, and I feel Glasgow really needed this.
