WHAT a week it's been.

I finished my final performance of the Vagina Monologues alongside May Miller and Cat Harvey last Thursday evening and I think the lovely ladies of Eastwood enjoyed it very much if their standing ovation and cheers were anything to go by.

On Friday evening I performed my first one woman show of 2016 at the very beautiful Cumbernauld Theatre to a sold out crowd which was just fantastic.

It was a charity performance of my show with all proceeds going straight to the Sacred Heart Parish in Cumbernauld who are desperately fundraising to install new access facilities to the church and hall for it’s many parishioners and visitors.

Thank you to everyone who came along on the evening and a special thanks to Santander who very generously agreed to double our total raised on the night.

Fr. Campbell, Tony, Tilda, Helen and the many more who worked so tirelessly to make Friday night happen, congratulations on organising such a successful event.

Saturday came and I was off to London Town to perform at West5 in Ealing with the very gorgeous and talented Mary Mac.

I love any opportunity to head down to the big smoke as I lived in London for many years and miss the buzz and atmosphere of the place from time to time.

The weather though was positively tropical compared with the freezing temperatures north of the border and I was soon majorly regretting my travelling attire of duffel jacket, knee high boots and hat and scarf combo when I touched down into Heathrow.

It was so warm I expected to be greeted by someone holding a tray of frozen margaritas while wearing a grass skirt.

I had a great night performing in West5 and the next day when I returned to Heathrow to fly home I had the most pleasant surprise of bumping into my lovely pal and River City star (yes the name dropping is outrageous) Gary Lamont.

Gary had just spent the last four weeks out in LA, oh how the other half live eh?, and was on the same flight back to Siberia or Glasgow as it's also known by moi, so we did what anyone would do on a Sunday afternoon in an airport and went straight to the bar where I warned him under no uncertain terms to still remember me when he's living the high life as a Hollywood mega star in a few years.

Yes it was a great week and I really do love my work as it's so varied but today might be one of my favourite working days of the year and you’ll soon see why.

For you see today I'll be surrounded by cakes and other delicious treats when I take on STV Glasgow’s David Farrell and Clyde 1 stars Diane Knox and Cassi in a unique challenge to professionally, and I use that term very loosely, ‘ice, frost and fill’ as many empire biscuits, cup cakes and yum yum’s as we can to mark the launch of the 2016 search for the best bakery in the land at reigning champs McGhees Glasgow bakery.

What really makes this launch special though is that we’ll also be raising much needed funds for the “Make a wish” charity which supports children with life limiting conditions and their families.

Judging our feeble attempts to conquer the world armed only with an icing bag and spatula will be reigning champ Gordon McGhee and competition ambassador, couture cake queen Mich Turner.

They will watch and judge as we attempt to jam & ice Empire biscuits, apply frosting to cupcakes and apply cream filling to cream yum yums.

We’ll be against the clock and the results of our labours will then make their way to Glasgow Caledonian University for students to purchase in order to raise much needed funds for the Make a Wish Charity so each and every item will need to pass muster or in my case at least be edible.

Now in its fifth year, the competition celebrates our love of a tasty treat from our local baker and aims to crown just one hard working bakery Scottish Baker of the Year.

Best of luck to all the competitors in this year's competition and here's hoping my attempts at cake decorating doesn't shut down the entire Scottish Baking industry all together.

Happy Anniversary to my darling parents. 38 years married, still madly in love, five daughters and a darling grandson isn't bad going and the fact that we are still laughing at Dad’s brown velvet wedding suit and bow tie is priceless.

Thank you for everything you have done for us and given us.

We are the women we are today because of you and none one on this earth could have asked for better role models than you.

Hope you have an amazing day, love from all your wee McManiacs xxxxx
