It's hard to write about anything else this week other than the terrible events that took place in Brussels on Tuesday. I'm not sure I actually know what to say to be honest, it seems all too much to comprehend really. The senselessness of it all, innocent people's lives cut tragically short, families torn apart and the massive devastation caused to Belgium and it's people.

Looking at the pictures online and on news channels it's hard not to feel terrified and shocked at the sheer force and scale of destruction caused by these bombs at Brussels Airport and Maalbeck Metro Station. It is utterly heartbreaking to see images of the blood splattered victims who only a few moments earlier had been perhaps on their way to work, going on holiday or just visiting the city as a tourist. The goal for these bombers was simple - to kill as many innocent civilians as possible while ensuring fear and terror is at an all time high across the globe.

So what is to be done? How do our world leaders even begin to tackle this problem? What is it ultimately that these terrorists want or hope to achieve? Is it worth while to hit the pause button on all of this, just for a second, to consider a different route, to perhaps open a dialogue with them to try to find a peaceful solution to all of this destruction and violence?

I genuinely have no clue on how the world moves forward in a bid to resolve this conflict once and for all and thankfully I don't get to make those kind of decisions but I pray, so very hard, for an end to this anger and suffering  and that some sort of peace and order can be found before any more innocent people are killed in these utterly brutal attacks across Europe and around the world.

Brussels we mourn for you and your injured and dead. May your city and country find the strength to unite side by side and heal together because at the end of the day no matter the race, gender, colour or creed of a person we are all human beings living on this earth together. The dream of course is to find a way to exist together in harmony.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and everyone of you who came to the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow on Tuesday night to see my third and final one woman show Michelle McManus: Pop Goes The Idol.

I was delighted to be asked back to perform at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and even more excited to debut my brand new show this year. I've been on the most incredible journey over the past three years with these shows and I never believed in my wildest dreams that they would ever have been as successful and so well received as they have been all over the country.

Thank you so much to my musical director Tommy Chambers for his unbelievable talent and taking me to a new level vocally. Thank you to all the venues up and down the country who took a chance on these shows even though they didn't quite know what to expect as let's face it, a lot of people probably didn't imagine for a second I would be performing a comedy show.

The biggest thanks however must go to my dearest friend Bruce Devlin. Truly the most talented and utterly hilarious comedian that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. The shows simply wouldn't have happened without you.

So this is it then, the last outing for this ridiculous, delusional, completely over the top alter ego we’ve written for me. This year's Edinburgh Festival will be her swan song if you like so I hope to you’ll all come along in August and bid her adios, for now at least. Thank you again for all of your support. I truly am one very lucky and blessed girl.

I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Easter this weekend. Congratulations to everyone who stuck to their Lent, I may have wobbled slightly, and I hope you all binge on whatever you gave up this Sunday. I'd also like to wish all of those travelling with HCPT on pilgrimage to Lourdes this Easter Sunday a safe journey. I'm beyond devastated I won't be there to celebrate 60 wonderful years of the trust but I'll be with you all in spirit and tuned in for the trust mass on Thursday morning. Have a fantastic week and remember, Rise and Shine.
