WELL hello, Friday, aren’t you looking gorgeous? Yes, I’m delighted to say my Evening Times Thursday column has packed up shop and moved to Friday, everyone’s favourite day of the week and I’m loving it!

It’s been a rather eventful week to say the least. I’ve been performing in Aberdeen and Blackpool, which is always such fun... except the journey on the 11am train back to Glasgow having rolled in slightly merry at 5am.

That was a journey of joy, let me tell you.

I’ve spent the last day or two at my desk at home working on my Edinburgh Festival Show after it debuted at the Glasgow Inter- national Comedy Festival last week to great reviews.

Now I have the task, along with the lovely Bruce Devlin, of cutting Michelle McManus: Pop Goes The Idol down to just 50 minutes.

But we all know how easy it is to get distracted when you have work that really must get done... and what was distracting me was a bizarre incident on the street outside my flat.

I’ve always been a big admirer of Mrs Mangel – cast your mind back to Neighbours circa 1988 – so I thought I would copy her curtain-twitching ways and see what was happening.

It turned out to be some rather questionable parking – which went on for well over an hour.

And, of course, I had to Tweet about it. If it’s not on Twitter, it didn’t happen.

The whole scenario reminded me of something you’d expect to see in a Benny Hill Sketch.

Later that afternoon, my tweets were plastered all over various national news outlets.

Totally baffling. There are entire websites and social media pages dedicated to outrageous parking all over the country, but apparently my tweets and thoughts were big news.

Who knew?

With the weekend nearly upon us, thousands of children, teachers and workers all over Glasgow will be skipping, fist pumping the air and singing songs of joy, as they exit the school gates this afternoon because the Easter Holidays have finally arrived.

Two whole weeks of polishing off the remaining Easter eggs and holiday bliss ahead of you all (not that I’m jealous in anyway of course) and there is just so much to do.

Hopefully, the sun will put his hat on and come out to play for at least some of the days you’re off.

From Easter Carnivals at Glasgow Green to The RSPB at Kelvingrove and The Easter Holidays Kids Club at The Forge Shopping Centre, there’s so much going on.

Whatever you have planned over the next two weeks I hope you have a fantastic time.

Last Month I was utterly delighted – as you can imagine – to launch the search for the new Scottish Baker of The Year 2016.

Yesterday the heat was turned up in Dunfermline as the search saw more than 100 bakers deliver more than 850 of their most popular scones, loaves, savoury items, morning rolls, individual cakes and biscuits for judging by the professionals.

With more than 15,000 customers from across Scotland voting for their favourite bakery products across six categories, the Scottish Baker of the Year truly reflects the favourite bakery items in the land.

Las year’s winner, Gordon McGhee of McGhee’s Bakery, said: “Since winning, our business has gone from strength to strength and we have been able to share our success with all of our customers by continuing to provide the best baked goods day in and day out. We wish everyone all the best in this year’s competition.”

Best of luck to all the competitors and I can’t wait to see which Scottish Bakery picks up the 2016 Crown.

LIKE so many people I was utterly shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Mr Asad Shah last week.

He was a lovely man and a true pillar of our community here in Shawlands, and the manner of his death has sent shock waves through the country.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr Shah’s family at this tragic time, and I hope they can find some strength and comfort from their local community who want to do anything they can to support them during this unimaginable period.

I pray that justice will be served swiftly for the family’s sake.

I’m not sure what is going on in this world of ours at the moment, but I truly hope we can find a way to live in peace and harmony with one another.
