I ’M having a bit of a love affair with Scotland at the moment. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve never fallen out with old Caledonia but I’m especially loving it in this weather.

Last weekend, my friend Sheryl and I drove up to Perthshire to stay overnight in the brand new luxury eco garden pods at Whitemoss Lodge. Trust me, we were not disappointed!

The pods are the first of their kind in Perthshire with breath-taking, private views over fields and hills and with only five in total available it’s the perfect chilled-out getaway for friends, couples or families.

Yes, gone are the days of Sheryl and I going to Dublin or Ibiza for a boozy girls’ weekend.

Instead, there we were curled up on the sofa in our jammies looking out at the amazing country views, large glass of vino in hand while putting the world to rights.

We even had smooth radio blaring out Beverly Craven’s Promise Me in the background and I’ll tell you we loved every minute of it. To top it all off, we had the cutest breakfast basket delivered to our pod in the morning with cereals, milk, rolls and bacon, fruit and yoghurts with a little carton of orange juice thrown in for good measure. What more could you want?

However, I decided I needed even more relaxation in my life!

So I booked my sister Maria and I into the famous Blythswood Square Spa on Monday for a pampering afternoon as my sister had just returned the day before from a week’s volunteering out in Lourdes with the HCPT charity.

I thought this would be a lovely treat for her after all her hard work.

From the minute we arrived, we were treated like royalty by Victoria and her team in the spa even though they were extremely busy with other clients, not to mention girl group Little Mix. I have to say they are just stunning in real life as they are in pictures and so tiny, especially Jesy Nelson. It always makes me laugh when the media portray women like Jesy as the ‘curvy one’ when in reality she is extremely petite and very pretty.

I’m sure it doesn’t bother her in the slightest though, as the girls have achieved so much success all over the world and she seemed very happy with her partner so I’m thinking life is very good in the Little Mix world.

Thank you so much to Murray and all his staff at the Blythswood for a truly fantastic afternoon.

This weekend, however, is the main event, the icing on my big tartan cake, and the reason I’m having palpitations at the mere thought of a kilt and all things Scottish...

Outlander, Season 2, hits our screens via Amazon Prime on Sunday and I’m about to pass out with excitement. I’ve spoken before about my love and, let’s be honest, slight obsession with the series having read the books a dozen times.

I even had the pleasure of interviewing author Diana Gabaldon when she visited Scotland a few years ago and I can’t wait to see how Ronald D Moore and his team have adapted the second book Dragonfly in Amber and brought it to life on screen.

I’m expecting big things though as the first season was spectacular thanks to the truly talented cast and crew which included actors Caitriona Balfe, Tobias Menzies and, of course, the hottest man ever to don a kilt while casually running about the Scottish Highlands, Sam Heughan.

If you haven’t read the books or watched the first series you have less than 72 hours to commence an Outlander marathon (oh how I envy you) to bring you up to speed for the Season 2 premiere on Sunday.

Trust me, you will thank me.

I AM also delighted to announce that my original one woman show Michelle McManus’ Reality: The Musical will be touring theatres all over Scotland again this year kicking off next month.

On May 19 I’ll be performing in the East Kilbride Arts Centre and then it’s off to Eden Court, Inverness on May 28. Throughout the year I’ll also be performing in Largs, Greenock and Aberdeen; I’ll keep you posted with all the details.

I’ll also be performing my brand new one woman show Michelle McManus Pop Goes The Idol at this year’s Edinburgh Festival in the Stand in The Square so it’s a very exciting year ahead.
