IT’S utterly bizarre to think that I’m sitting writing this column in Glasgow at the end of April with my fire on, wearing a woolly jumper, while a heavy snowstorm beats off my windows.

My first thought is why, oh why wasn’t it like this in December when my tree was up? It was decorated with twinkling lights and my drinks cabinet was well stocked with mulled wine. There was even a cheeky wee mince pie just casually hanging about my kitchen cupboard.

Secondly what on earth is going on with our climate?

As we say goodbye to a wintry April, I wonder what May 2016 will bring us.

I’m praying at the very least a little sunshine to give my poor naturally curly hair a break.

Maybe then I can stop sporting the Worzel Gummidge look, because teamed up with that woolly jumper I mentioned earlier, I’m pretty much looking like a 10/10 right now, as you can imagine.

First up in May we have our Scottish Parliament Elections next Thursday.

After the referendum in 2014 a passionate political fire seems to have awoken the majority of people in Scotland and I’m hoping there will be a great turn-out at the polls next week to elect our 129 members of the Scottish Parliament.

During the campaign a series of televised debates have taken place to include the party leaders but my favourite had to be Monday night’s Gary: Tank Commander’s Greg McHugh’s election Special on

BBC Two.

The cheesy pasta-loving comedy character met the leaders of the main parties for a series of slightly alternative interviews and the results were hilarious, with surely the comment of the night coming from Labour Leader Kezia Dugdale.

Gary asked her: “What makes you better than the healing hands of Willie Rennie, Liberal Democrat leader, to run the NHS?”

To which Ms Dugdale replied simply: “Well I’m not a big fan of Willie.”

Most are predicting another landslide victory for Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP, but whichever your party of choice is don’t waste an opportunity to have your voice heard. Please just make sure you get out there and cast your all-important vote.

This is your country and you have a say on who gets to make the big decisions for Scotland.

For me next month is very exciting as I’m back on the airwaves at BBC Radio Scotland with the Music Match on Friday evenings.

I also have the great honour of stepping into the Get It On hot seat next week, usually occupied by one of the nation’s favourite presenters, Bryan Burnett.

I’m then off on tour with my one-woman show and while all of this lovely madness is happening there is also the small matter of me turning 36 this coming month.

I’m not too sure how I feel about it to be honest, but I suppose being four years away from 40 isn’t all that bad is it?

Well I’m sure it’s nothing that a night out on the town and a few bottles of bubbly won’t fix when the time comes.

Yes May, you’re looking mighty fierce from here, just promise me you’ll send a memo to the weather gods to let them know it’s actually spring and there’s no more need for this hail, snow and rain malarkey thank you very much.

A little heat and sunlight would be the best birthday present of all.

One of my favourite charities, Michael’s Movers, has organised the fabulous Michael’s Movers Millport 10 Miler run for Saturday, May 14.

This will be the second year the event has been held and after the fantastic showing last year, I’m

sure this will be another brilliant event.

It will be a flat course taking entrants around the lovely island of Millport.

Online registration is available now at michaelsmovers.org. Best of luck to everyone taking part.

Good luck also to Rossvale FC 2000s, who are playing in the Scottish Cup final at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Sunday.

The Under-16s have had a fantastic season and will battle it out with Banks O’Dee Albion.
