IF you are a sports fan or just love seeing an underdog triumph over the big boys then you surely must have felt nothing but utter elation and joy for Leicester City Football Club on Monday night.

They were confirmed English Premier League Champions after Tottenham Hotspur drew with London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. I have been absolutely glued to Leicester all season and I was completely intrigued to learn that only last season the club and its players were given a blessing by a Thai Buddhist monk.

Organised by billionaire owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprapha, it resulted in Leicester going from bottom of the league in April, 2015 to English Premier League champions one year later — something they had not previously achieved in their 132-year history.

It is the stuff fairytales are made of — or at the very least Hollywood movies.
This tale could give Rocky a run for its money in the emotional stakes. It is jaw-dropping to think that at the start of the season Leicester were 5,000/1 to win the league which is pretty out there considering that U2’s frontman Bono being Pope was 1,000/1.

We were even being offered odds of 2,000/1 that Elvis was still alive.

This magnificent achievement will no doubt be recounted for many years to come and each one of the Leicester players and their manager Claudio Ranieri have now been elevated to legendary status. Well done Leicester for proving that dreams really can come true. Now I wonder what odds I would get on being the Christmas number one this year. Yes, I would stick a cheeky wee fiver on that for sure.

I had such fun this week spending an afternoon filming with the little mini me versions of Still Game favourites Jack, Victor and Isa aka Jordan Cramond, Jamie Wallace and Cheldon Woodburn from the UK Theatre School. The trio have become internet stars overnight after filming impressions for a project at Christmas, with nearly 100,000 hits online to date — pretty impressive I am sure you will agree.

In the video they are desperately trying to convince the actors who made the roles famous — Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and Jane McCarry — to agree to an interview, and their performances are hilarious.

The UK Theatre School has more than 700 students from the ages of four to 19. Principal Lizanne Lambie Thomson is over the moon with the public’s response. Myself and River City favourite Gary Lamont were both extremely fortunate to star in episodes of Still Game a few years ago and were even more delighted to work with this talented wee bunch on Tuesday as they continue their quest to meet and interview their idols.

A big thank you must also go to director James McAnerney and the wonderful Taylor Ferguson for allowing us to use his five-star hair salon for filming.

Fingers crossed their dreams of meeting the Craiglang stars come true because they are so talented and I am sure it would mean the world to them all. You can see them in action at youtube.com/watch?v=gSJy1sZn3_k.

I WOULD like to say a huge thank you and massive congratulations to the Glasgow Warriors for their outstanding display last Friday evening against Zebre at their home ground in Scotstoun.

Their emphatic win ensured the team a spot in the Guinness Pro12 playoffs.

My family were lucky enough to be there on the night to see the team’s triumphant display and were treated like kings themselves before and after the match in the hospitality suites. It was a perfect way for my father to celebrate his birthday, so thank you. Best of luck to everyone at the club for tomorrow’s tie against Connacht and for the rest of the season. I hope you can emulate last year’s success.

There is a new kid on the music block and  he is on the brink of becoming a huge international recording artist.

Glasgow man Jonathan Carr is is to make a mark with the launch of his long-awaited debut album Porcelain Sky this week.

This talented man has more than served an extraordinary apprenticeship — including a collaboration with seven-time Grammy winner John Mayer while he was studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.

Jonathan has many credits to his name including writing the Unicef 2014 Commonwealth Games theme song and has performed at private bookings in more than 40 countries. Jonathan is definitely the one to watch in 2016. For more on his upcoming events, see jonathancarrmusic.com.
