SOMETHING really magical happened on Wednesday morning and I didn't expect it to have the effect on me as it did.

It was something so simple but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it ever since and it's left the biggest smile on my face.

You see, on Wednesday morning I took my darling little nephew Sam, who is almost three years old, to see his first ever pantomime at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow.

For the past 4 years I've been in panto myself starting out in 2012 at the beautiful Pavilion Theatre as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Never Woz and finishing up last year at the SECC as Mimi the Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan alongside The Krankies and David Hasselhoff.

Not doing panto this year was a massive decision for me but I wanted so badly to have the guts to just to go for it and do my own Christmas Show and boy am I glad I found the courage to actually do it.

Not doing panto has also meant that I can actually get out and about this festive season and go and see other pantomimes in the city which has been a real treat.

I've already seen Elfie’s Magical Adventures at The Pavilion which was fantastic especially since lots of my lovely friends are in the cast like Liam Dolan, Craig Clover, Stephen Purdon, Grado, Nicola Park, Ewen Cameron and, of course, the lovely Cat Harvey.

They all work their socks off in this Christmas cracker of a show.

One venue I never get a chance to visit at Christmas time is the Tron Theatre due schedules clashing.

I'd heard such great things about it that I was absolutely determined to make it along this year and that's exactly where the magic happened on Wednesday morning with wee Sam.

The panto this year is called The Snaw Queen and it's absolutely out of this world. Sadly I think their entire run is practically sold out but after seeing the show it's not hard to see why.

Written, directed and starring Johnny McKnight alongside Louise McCarthy, Julie Wilson Nimmo, Darren Brownlie, Christopher Marshall and Kara Swinney, this wildly talented group of stars created a truly hilarious and more importantly magical Christmas spectacular that transported my little nephew into a world of pure imagination. The story goes that Kristine Cagney Kringle and her toy workshop are gearing up for the biggest, bestest festive season yet.

However, an evil magic mirror appears suddenly and disaster strikes when the evil Snaw Queen appears.

Kristine, Kelvie -the Kelvingrove Elfie, and Olive the reindeer and the gang battle the elements to save Rudolph from the evil queen's clutches but will they get him back in time for Christmas Eve?

I watched my little nephew's eyes expand to the size of saucers as the adventure unfolded. He was completely hooked from the very start and was soon booing the baddies with all of his might every time they appeared onstage and was genuinely worried at points that we might never find Rudolph again.

He kept grabbing my leg and shouting “Auntie Michelle the baddies are behind them” and laughed his head off at all of the crazy goings on. He cheered and whooped at the end when good triumphed over evil and I genuinely had tears in my eyes just watching him.

His innocent wee face was bursting with excitement at what he'd just seen and he must have sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer 10 times at full pelt, on repeat, the entire journey home.

Thank you to the entire cast and production team for creating such a magical experience for everyone in that theatre that morning. I'll never forget it and Sam's mum has kept his ticket to put in a frame for him to always remember his first panto outing.

That's why this truly is the most wonderful time of the year especially for our children.

It makes me so sad when I read utter nonsense online like why we shouldn't ask our children to believe in Santa anymore because we are damaging them with our lies and other rubbish like that.

What about magic and imagination for our wee darlings? Nothing could compare to the joy and happiness that magical tale brought to all of the children in the Tron Theatre that morning.

I'm 36 years old and I still believe in the magic of Christmas and I wouldn't have it any other way.

You might still be lucky enough to grab a ticket or two for either of these fab pantos.
