Some amazing music groups are named after towns and cities, for example, Glasgow’s own Texas, named after the southern state in the USA. Then there’s Berlin, famous for their Take My Breath Away theme from Top Gun. And finally, the group I like to think were named after the home of the 38C bus route, one of Scotland’s oldest hockey clubs and the architectural wonder known as The Buchanan Tower. I am of course talking about Stepps!

The 90s group are re-uniting to celebrate 20 years since they formed. Tickets go on sale tomorrow for the newly announced gig at the SSE Hydro in November. The only question is how many tickets will you buy? 5? 6? 7? 8?

Steps will be hitting Glasgow in November… did someone say reunion?

Get well soon to my co-presenter, Lynne Hoggan. She’s been hospitalised this week thanks to a pesky kidney stone. I was going to do a sweepstake on when it will appear but apparently that’s in “bad taste”. Regular readers of our column will know she loves a selfie and even though she's laid up in a NHS gown with no make-up on, Lynne has still been all over Instagram with some of the most unflattering selfies ever. A new craze to take over from Ice Buckets and planking?

Glasgow Times:

Hope you feel better soon Lynne!

We can’t wait to host this year’s Race for Life events across Scotland and to get ready for their first family run. This week I grabbed the bull by the horns and got back into the gym. I’ve started at CrossFit in Airdrie and as I type this I’m in agony. The whole ethos is to build up your core muscles through group work outs involving some fun and equally evil techniques. Are burpees the work of the devil? Yes! But there is something worse. Have you heard of a hollow rock? Well, all I can say is… do no attempt at it!

Glasgow Times:

Race for Life preparation calls for a few CrossFit sessions

Good luck to you if you’re getting in shape at the moment, stick it out though as Lynne keeps reminding me, “it’ll be worth it”. Remember it’s all about the balance though, there’s no fun in hitting the gym seven days a week – make time for a night out on the town or day out with the family! That’s exactly what we hope our Music Minute winner will enjoy, with our big giveaway this week.  Platinum tickets for the Scottish rugby to see Scotland v Italy and some lunch at the Waldorf  in Edinburgh. Sounds pretty ideal to me. You can find the Music Minute on Heart Scotland Drive Time with me and Lynne weekdays from 4pm!

Listen to Paul and Lynne’s new drive show on Heart Scotland 100-103Fm & DAB 4-7pm weekdays
