I’ve got the most wonderful news to share with you all this week. I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be performing at the SSE Hydro as part of the Celebrate ‘67 event on Thursday May 25.

I will be appearing alongside Sir Rod Stewart, Eddi Reader and a host of special guests from the world of football, music and entertainment including Sir Alex Ferguson, Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan.

It’s an absolute honour for me to sing at this fantastic event which will celebrate the incredible achievement that took place 50 years to the day when the famous Lisbon Lions team ensured Celtic became the first British team to lift the most prestigious prize in club football.

I know football can be a contentious issue at times and a topic best avoided, especially in this city, but I think we can all agree that no matter which club you support this truly is a cause for celebration not only because Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup but the fact that they were a Scottish Cup should make us all feel very proud.

It’s just such a wonderful story about a team, who were all born within 30 miles of Parkhead, going on a journey that saw them defeat some of the best clubs in the world until they finally reached the European Cup final in Lisbon on May 25 1967 where they went on to beat Inter Milan 2-1.

Tickets for this event sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale which is just wonderful especially as all net proceeds from the event will go directly to Celtic FC Foundation to assist its work of helping people in need locally, nationally and internationally so not only will those lucky few who managed to get tickets be in for an incredible night of music, comedy and conversation, to celebrate the success of 1967 which took world football by storm but they will also be contributing to a wonderful charity that helps so many.

There are still a few remaining hospitality packages for the show available to buy for season ticket holders. The packages include a private, pre-event hospitality area in the SEC’s Lomond Suite. Guests can enjoy entertainment, complimentary finger food and drinks as excitement builds ahead of the show.

Priority access to the SSE Hydro is also included with a premium seat for the show, where you’ll be rubbing shoulders with the Lisbon Lions and other VIP guests, imagine getting the opportunity to chat away to Sir Rod himself? A souvenir event programme is also included, giving you a lasting memento from this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. So on Monday I turn the big 37 and I find myself asking the questions “why God, why?” and “how did this happen?”. I’m not going to lie, I actually feel older which is rather depressing also though not as depressing as realising your natural hair colour his now grey.

Yes, I decided back in January that I was going to give my hair a break from all the colouring and bleaching and just let my natural roots and colour grow in to see what it was like (in my head I pictured a Jennifer Aniston type hair colour all shiny and healthy blowing in the wind).

Now to be fair I haven’t seen my natural hair colour since 1998 and in that time I’ve been red, brown, pink, purple, silver and more recently ash blonde.

Taylor Ferguson, my hairdresser, is nothing short of a saint for putting up with me, but I distinctly remember it being a dark brown almost black colour so you can imagine my horror and shock to find that is now completely grey. Three months of hair growing has confirmed that I am now officially an old lady so I’ll be celebrating my birthday on Monday wearing a full length floral flannel nightgown and sipping on a small sweet sherry. Cheers.
