Over the years I've been on many different hen do’s as a bridesmaid and as just a friend of the brides. They've ranged from a day out in Glasgow, bingo in Aberdeen, playing dentist chair in Edinburgh and attempting to pole dance, massively unsuccessfully, in Ibiza.

That was quite the sight for the poor people in the bar that evening let me tell you. They've all been a brilliant laugh as I've always been fortunate enough to go away with a fantastic group of girls but now that it's time to organise my own hen do, I'm seeing this whole traditional ritual in a completely different light.

I say organising but the truth is I've been banned from knowing any of the details which of course is my first problem as I'm so used to being in the loop, the control freak in me is having a very tough time letting other people take a hold of the pink glittery reins so to speak. I've warned my maid of honour and sister Lynsey that there's to be no gentlemen turning up to relieve themselves of their clothing at any point as knowing my luck it will be like Danny Devito's cameo in Friends for Phoebe's bachelorette party and I've requested that I'm not made to dress up in anything wildly embarrassing (remember I'm the girl who was told on national television that the lovely black ball gown I was wearing in fact looked more like a black bin bag on me by one Simon Cowell).

Although I fear all of this is falling on deaf ears as let's be honest, I wouldn't be listening to me if I was my maid of honour. All I'm asking is that my darling sisters and friends go easy on me and that I at least come out of it all with my dignity still intact. Failing that just go the whole hog then and book that big hunk Sam Heughan to turn up dressed as Jamie Fraser from Outlander and throw me over the back of his horse so he can ride off into the Scottish mountains with me. I’ll stick my neck out and say that me and my little veil and L plates will certainly find a way to cope with that kind of hen do surprise I'm sure.

Calling all Uptown Girls! I'm delighted to be hosting the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice annual Ladies Lunch which takes place on Sunday from 1pm-5pm at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel.

The event will have an Uptown Girls theme, which will take our guests on a journey of high-powered fashion and music from the 80s up to the present day. Proceedings begin at 12.30pm, with a chance to shop for the best in fashion and cosmetics at a range of stalls.

A sparkling reception follows at 1pm, before a fantastic three-course meal and our customary catwalk display, provided by House of Fraser.

Later, we’ll have musical entertainment from local group the Singer Swingers and The Voice star Barbara Bryceland and the all-afternoon event will also feature a raffle, a tombola and an auction including several high-quality items. Tickets are available for £50 per person. Please call 0141 435 7018 for more information.

I'm delighted to announce that I'll be returning to the Edinburgh Festival this August for the fifth time in four years with my very original 2013 show Michelle McManus’ Reality: The Musical written by myself and the wonderful Bruce Devlin. I can't believe how much has happened since I first stepped out on stage in the New Town Bar on Dublin Street, which has sadly gone now, in my blue dress and feathers.

Three one woman shows, and a Christmas show later is amazing to go right back to the beginning with the show that changed everything for me. It's been an incredible journey and I even sold out my very first one woman show south of the border this year in Manchester and with another date booked again in November 2017 is shaping up to be the best year yet.
