It's the start of the September weekend here in Glasgow and for those lucky enough to have today and Monday off, there are plenty of events for all ages happening right across the city to keep you occupied over the weekend.

The one that stands out for me though is the The Scottish Gin Fest because in 2017 if you don't like Gin there must be something wrong with you apparently as there's nothing hotter right now than Scottish Gin.

I've been trying for years to get used to the taste because when I was younger I always thought Gin and Tonic tasted like you’d just swallowed a can of Elnett hairspray fumes and I could just never bring myself to enjoy it until I was in my late 30s and by that time I think my taste buds were on their last legs anyway due to Mr Sambuca and the rest of his little shot friends.

I love it now though and that's why I'm so excited about the upcoming Gin Festival taking place at Trades Hall tomorrow. The event will see more than 40 gin brands come together to celebrate Scottish gin with tastings, masterclasses and tonic brands, as well as delicious food on offer.

My favourite Gin in the world, Eden Mill, is kicking things off at 12.30pm on Saturday with a bespoke masterclass encompassing the history of the Seggie Brewery site, the only single-site brewery and distillery which now produces five world class gins. Fingers crossed you get a wee sample or two to try out. There is loads more happening all throughout the day but for more information and for tickets just log onto www.scotginfest.com

Now it's fair to say that I'm one of the luckiest girls in the world as I get to do my dream job day in and day out and no week is ever the same but on Friday I got asked to do something really exciting, especially since I'm currently house hunting myself.

I was asked to come along to the launch of Avant’s brand new luxury housing development, Greenhall Village, in Blantyre and spend the afternoon looking around all the gorgeous new show houses, eating delicious canapés, drinking champagne and cutting a lovely big red ribbon to officially open up the new site.

Like anyone who is currently house hunting, sites like Right Move are the prospective home owners equivalent to online dating sites like a Tinder and I often find myself checking the sites two or three times a day to look for any new properties that have been added on the last 24 hours with all of my available alerts turn on full blast to keep me up to date with the current housing market.

I always thought I wanted to buy an old traditional style house but after seeing these gorgeous new builds I think it might just have changed my mind.

WHO doesn’t love a laugh? And if it’s rib-tickler, side splitting, guffaw-generating ones you’re after then two of my hardworking showbiz pals could be the answer.

Liam Dolan and Johnny Mac are only in their 30s but they’ve perfected the art of performing a tribute act to two of Scotland’s classic comedy giants – Francie and Josie – who first hit the stage almost 60 years ago.

In what will be their fourth Scottish theatre tour Liam and Johnny entertain audiences with sketches and songs made famous by the late, great Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy.

The pair spend hours watching videos and listening to old recordings to perfect the moves, the vocals and the timing of these comedy geniuses. I’ve seen their show at The Gaiety in Ayr – it was the ‘real deal’.

Loving fact that Johnny will also now feature his version of Fulton’s melancholic but hilarious minister, Reverend I M Jolly, as part of their new show.

The boys are coming to my wedding party in Glasgow next month - maybe I can twist their arms and get them to entertain guests with a sprinkling of Francie and Josie gags? Let’s hope the response is: “Sure Michelle, sure Michelle, sure, sure, sure!”

Catch the duo’s “Francie and Josie: A tribute to Rikki Fulton and Jack Milroy” between October 4-7 in East Kilbride Village Theatre, Rutherglen Town Hall, Stirling’s Albert Halls and Falkirk Town Hall.
