WAIT a minute, no it can't be, are my eyes playing a cruel trick on me?

Can that big yellow thing in the sky actually be the sun?

Yes, yes I think it is.

All together now sing 'Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Halle Eeeeeee Luuuuuuuujah.'

It seems the weather Gods have had their fun, watched us cry, scream and snotter quite literally in frustration and decided to turned off that ruddy big tap in the sky.

They've released the Mr Sunshine from his hiding place and he's got his hat on and come out to play all over dear old Scotland and just in time too for you see it's imperative we have sunshine this weekend and I'll tell you why.

On Saturday it's the annual Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games and I've been asked to attend alongside a few other of the previous Chieftains from years gone by.

It's was back in 2009 when I was awarded the honour and I can honestly say it was one of the best days out I've ever had and I met some people there who have since become some of my closest friends.

I mean, what's not to love about the Highland Games?

The pipe bands, the highland dancing, the fantastic family atmosphere, the food and drink, the events which range from Haggis Hurling, to Tossing the Caber and of course how could I resist those gorgeous big strong men in kilts which is why I need the sun to be scorching, blazing hot to create the perfect Taps Aff conditions.

Funnily enough it's the one event I attend that my girlfriends queue up to be invited to and who could blame them.

When I stood next to those big boys for a picture on the day I actually looked on the slim side because these guys were built like tanks and I was completely dwarfed by some of the 6ft plus

competitors.

Hot Haggis Hurling men aside this all day fantastic family event is absolutely free to attend and this year's Chieftain is none other than Chris Chittell aka Eric Pollard from Emmerdale.

Past Chieftains have included racing legend Jackie Stewart, Former Doctor Who Peter Davison and Star Trek favourite George Takei, a very impressive list I'm sure you'll agree.

It's set to be another fantastic day out although I'll need to be on my best behaviour as I'm delighted to say I'll be performing live at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall the next evening,

Sunday June 14.

It's the Glasgow Academy Musical Theatre Arts or GAMTA as it's known 21st Anniversary and they are celebrating in style with a Gala Concert featuring the entire student role, special guests from the West End and the fabulous Glasgow Studio Orchestra.

I'm thrilled as a former company member of Spotlight, the precursor to the now world famous GAMTA, to be performing on such a special night alongside so many talented people.

I was only a young teenager when I began working with Shaaron Graham and Stuart Bird but the

skills and experience they gave me absolutely helped me on my journey to where I am now in

my performing career and for that I will always be eternally grateful.

Other guest performers on the evening will be my panto pal and Waterloo Road actress Holly Jack, River City star Pamela Byrne and the evening will be hosted by former Miss Scotland Nieve Jennings and John Paul McCue.

For more information about Twenty One The Gala Concert at the Royal Concert Hall on

Sunday evening just log onto www.gamta.org.uk and for the Bearsden & Milingavie Highland

Games on Saturday check out www.bearsdenmilngaviehighlandgames.com.

Don't forget there are still tickets available for my Edinburgh Festival preview show at the East

Kilbride Arts Centre on Saturday July 18.

The first half of the show will be an exclusive performance of the brand new one woman show, Michelle McManus Reloaded which is the follow up to Michelle McManus' Reality the Musical and the second half will be a live music set of never before performed songs from my Meaning of Love Album and a few of my favourites from over the past 12 years.

Tickets are just £12 and you can book online at www.sllcboxoffice.co.uk/hall.asp or you can call the box office on 01355 261 000.

Don't worry if you missed my original musicals comedy show as I'm delighted to say that I'll be embarking on a tour of Scotland with it this autumn so keep your eyes peeled for all the details over the next few weeks right here in my weekly column.
