There has been an awakening in my childhood…I can feel it.

In a cinema not so far, far away at 00:05 on December 17, 2015 I will be sitting back, relaxing with sweet popcorn in one hand and a cup of Fanta in the other as I prepare myself for the first Star Wars film to hit the big screen in 10 years.

Since the announcement that Star Wars would return for not one, not two, not three but six, yes...SIX movies, I have been waiting for this day.

It wasn’t until recently though that I realised just how big a geek I am when it comes to Star Wars.

I mean who in their right mind gets excited about a movie poster? But it’s such an awesome poster. And I may have pre-ordered the newest Star Wars video game some five months ago despite it not being released until next month (don’t judge me).

I have loved Star Wars for as long as I can remember, ever since the day my dad presented me with a shiny black and gold box containing the original trilogy on video.

And with the full trailer for The Force Awakens having been released just a few weeks ago I feel that I have returned to that child's mentality some ten years or so on.

Just ask my other half whom, upon my request, accompanied me to the Disney store just the other day so I could revel in their Star Wars merchandise.

And revel, I did. I don't think there is a version of BB-8 (the wee yellow and white droid you've seen rolling about in the trailers) that I haven't asked her to get me for Christmas.

Not only that but she has had to sit through all six movies to date (not that she was against doing so) because having not seen them before I took it upon myself to educate her on the wonderful fantasy that is the Star Wars saga.

Then there are the replica spaceships, all new and fancy. They take me back to spending hours upon hours in my cousin's bedroom playing with all the ships from the original movies, forever jealous that his collection was better than mine.

Not to mention Episode VII's trailer itself - I have already watched it somewhere close to 20 times. Nothing changes between viewings; I just love it that much. And it may have resulted in one or two squeals I must admit.

Excited, I am. Disappointed, I must not be. Do you hear that J.J.Abrams? If Episode VII is not up to scratch then I will be one very disheartened 21-going on 10-year old and we wouldn’t want that now would we.
