As a former teacher who remembers when Frank McAveety himself graced the classroom and remember his strong and powerful support for the teachers' cause over McCrone, I am appalled that teachers are being forced to pay to park at their place of work.

In fact, I also know that Glasgow City councillors get free parking in the City Centre for the purposes of their work.

Now, both councillors and teachers work on behalf of the people so should not be charged. However, at the very least Mr McAveety should pay for his free parking at the same rate as teachers.

As Council Leader I am sure he can afford it.

Name and address supplied.

With regards the teachers complaining about paying to park at Hyndland Primary School, the best local subway, train and bus connections in the city are within 300 yards of that school.

The more troubling issue is Glasgow City Council using their car-hating power to kill off businesses in the West End.

Putting aside staff parking problems at this school, why would I want to pay for parking to do any extended shopping, when I can drive to a good few shopping malls with free parking or go online, even for boutique stuff?

Utterly disgusting, stealing from the sick and vulnerable and putting families through further upset at an already traumatic time in their lives.

It was great to read that over £70,000 has been raised, via an online fundraising page, for the family of Asad Shah but why the photograph of a "Love for all, hatred for none" banner?

We don't love "all" because "all" necessarily includes the terrorists, their sympathisers and supporters. We don't love those people. We hate them.

We hate their atrocities, both in this country and around the world. We hate their evil ideology and want to see it destroyed.

We love freedom, truth, justice, and all people of goodwill - of every religion and none.
