• Who are you?

Emma Calvert, AKA 'Miss Manifestation'.

• What does your business do?

I run Vision Board Workshops for Women in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

A vision board is essentially a visual bucket list.

It's a visual representation of your goals, whether that's for your business, health, relationships, finance, career etc.

A vision board encompasses everything you want to be, do and have for the short or long term.

My workshops guide women in to not only creating a vision board but making them so compelling they can't help but take action.

• Where are you based?

My workshops are primarily in Glasgow city centre although I have recently branched out to Edinburgh. I'm from Glasgow and as a stay at home Mum it makes sense to be based close to home.

• How did you get started?

I started a meetup group out of curiosity and after the first couple of workshops I decided to start my own website when I saw how popular they were and how much I enjoyed doing them.

• What is your background?

I have a varied background. My first honours degree is in Psychology and due to my 10 year career in the HR sector, I have additional qualifications in HR and Employment Law.

I'm also a certified Life Coach and a Member of the Association of Foragers.

I'm a self-confessed self-development junkie.

I've been immersed in the self-development field for almost 10 years and that's what ultimately led to me deciding to help women consciously create their own lives.

I devour books reading up to 4 a week.

• What is your top tip?

To-do lists. I know, not very exciting but writing down a list of what you want to achieve in the day the night before definitely helps you achieve goals 10 times faster.

• How long has your business been running?

The business is still in its first year.

• Has anyone helped you get started and how?

Business Gateway are phenomenal in their support and assistance to new businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. I'm also a regular at a Glasgow meet-up group called Monday Morning Success Club.

The wonderful thing about Glasgow is there are really fantastic networking groups that have personality.

• What was your biggest mistake/or what would you do differently?

It's been a learning process every step of the way. I've had to learn a whole array of skills I'd previously never encountered e.g. marketing. It wasn't so much a mistake as a learning opportunity however I committed early on to running the workshops out of a particular venue without being 100% sure of the logistics and fit for purpose of the venue. It wasn't a major mistake but it's encouraged me to slow down rather than get carried away and jump the gun so to speak.

• Who was/is your mentor/or inspiration?

Since becoming a Mother I'm continually inspired by all the single mums I meet at my workshops who are somehow raising children single-handedly whilst daring to dream bigger for themselves and their family.
