Now I know some of you are not quite ready to talk about it yet. Some of you will even find the topic of this week's column highly offensive as it will feature words that are simply unacceptable in September.

However, I'm throwing caution to wind as I dare to drop the C bomb on you all from a great height. You see I'm delighted to announce that this year I've decided to break with panto tradition and instead perform my very own show this Christmas.

It's called Michelle McManus’ Winter Wonderland and it's happening on Thursday December 15 at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow's Merchant City. I have to be totally honest and say it was a massive decision for me to walk away from panto because it's been a huge part of my life for the past four years starting in 2012 at the Pavilion Theatre in The Wizard That Never Woz.

I remember how nervous I was on my first day of rehearsals as I'd never really done anything like it before. Two shows a day for nine and a half weeks was a daunting thought but I can't tell you how utterly amazing it was. The non stop laugh I had with the fabulous cast which included the star of the show Johnny Mac, River City’s Stephen Purdon, Shebahn Aherne, Joyce Falconer, James McAnerney and Jimmy Chisholm.

I made real friends for life that year and went on to do a further two more pantos at the Pavilion - the last being Treasure Island in 2014. It was my favourite panto of all as I got to star alongside my dear pal Cat Harvey and together we played possibly the two silliest pirates to ever sail the seven seas.

Last year I made the move to star in Peter Pan at the SECC in Glasgow. Not only did I get to work with Hollywood star David Hasselhoff but I got to know and utterly adore The Krankies. What they don't know about performing isn't worth a dime and they are without a doubt the most professional and incredibly talented performers I've ever been lucky enough to share a stage with.

After the show ended, I was nominated for best lead female at the UK Panto Awards which I went onto win. It then ofcourse meant that I naturally spent the entire month telling everyone and their granny about it while showing them pictures of the actual award in case they didn't believe me.

So after a panto season like that you start to think can it ever be topped? Plus the fact that personally 2016 has been incredible for me in so many ways, it just felt that this was the right time to make a leap of faith and go for gold with my own Christmas show. I'm so happy I've had the courage to do it.

Now to be fair I've got a lot of help on hand starting off with the hugely talented Soundsational Choir who will be performing with me on the night led by musical directors Tommy Chambers and Jen Phee. The choir will simply take the show to another level and who in their right mind wants to hear Christmas songs and Carols without a choir? Also after the massive success of my one woman comedy shows, my writing partner Bruce Devlin is back onboard to help sprinkle his comedy gold over the proceedings so expect lots and lots of festive fun throughout the show.

Having my December back has also meant that I've been able to team up with the fabulous Robert and May Miller for two nights at the East Kilbride Village Theatre on December 28 and 29 for an evening of music and chat with these two legends. I've been such a huge fan of theirs for many years and it's so exciting that I finally get to perform with my dear friends. Christmas has definitely come early for me and if you would like more information for either show just log onto here

On Sunday September 18 the Paisley Buccaneers Ice Hockey Team will be hosting a charity match against a Select Team at the Galleon Centre in Kilmarnock. All monies raised on the day will go straight to helping a wonderful lady named Lesley Graham who is suffering from terminal cancer. Lesley is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece and cousin and this money will help Lesley spend as much quality time with her family as possible. Your attendance at the game would be so gratefully welcomed by the family. With tickets priced at only £1.50 per adult and £1.25 per child how could you ask for a better event to support. You can also log onto https://www.gofundme.com/makingmemories38 to read more about Lesley's story and make a donation no matter how small. Thankyou.
