Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill popped in to Heart Scotland this week for a chat. Lynne was the ultimate ‘fangirl’, claiming to have ironed her top especially for the occasion. Way to push the boat out Lynne! We got all of the inside gossip on the 2017 Still Game stage show at The SSE Hydro.  All the cast saw the script for the first time this week at Greg’s house and it was hilarious as the cast members tested out the jokes in their everyday attire.

The other scoop… The SSE Hydro shows won’t be available on DVD. Tickets seem like a definite Christmas present for any Still Game fan. Well, that or a Techno Tub bath radio from this series!

A decision on whether to recommission the TV series will be taken in the New Year, though it seems like that is a dead cert. I said “ooft” a couple of times during our interview, I find it replaces any word not suitable for radio quite well. Anyway, Ford picked up on this. He and Greg were laughing at the idea of a new character that only says “ooft”, so I may have a new gig in the New Year too. “Ooft”! See you in the Clansman…

Ladies of Scotland have just recovered from the ultimate girly weekend -  yes, it was the Girls Day Out Show at the SECC over the weekend. Lynne was there with Adele from Heart Breakfast, as well as our very own Club Classics man, Mark Wright.

Glasgow Times:

Mark Wright & Lynne at the Girls Day Out Show

I walked past on my way home from Ibrox Stadium on Saturday night (I’m a long suffering Aberdeen fan), and the crowd was more rowdy than the 50,000 across the water. I don't mean wild; I just mean really in the mood for a party! A three-day long weekend of music and shopping is a mix set to succeed. And someone took our life-size cardboard cut-out of Mark!

Glasgow Times:

Glasgow restaurant superstars James and Louise Rusk at The Spanish Butcher on Miller Street

One of the most eagerly awaited new restaurants in the city has officially opened. The Spanish Butcher on Miller Street is the latest trendy eatery from James and Louise Rusk, owners of The Butcher Shop and Hutchesons. At the opening, my wife Claire and I spotted Charlie Nicholas, Carol Smillie and Gavin Mitchell aka Bobby the Barman. We tried the most delicious olives you've ever tasted, seared scallop with pork cheek and a red pepper soup, then a sharer main of pork and beef. This restaurant is far from pretentious and the staff were only too happy to talk through the different cuts of meat and other dishes. It feels like Glasgow has new restaurants popping up all the time. Great news for the city and for anyone selling XXL trousers.
