That famous mince scene from Tony Ropers The Steamie was just one of the highlights I watched at the Theatre School of Scotland’s first ever show on Saturday at The Bridge in Easterhouse.

You know the sketch- “Was it Galloway's mince that Mr Culfeathers liked or was it Jackson's potatoes?”

The fact it was performed by seven to eleven-year-olds made it even more endearing.

Another highlight of the show was an excerpt from the Glasgow Girls as well as a mini version of Annie played by a cast of four-year-olds.

The school was set up last August by 21 year old Reece Donnelly and some of the kids have already landed some roles in some secret telly productions.

It’s the 40th anniversary of musical Grease and my friend Jayne Savva is celebrating with a Massaoke Scotland event at St Lukes this Saturday.

As if that weren’t enough the event is also celebrating Dirty Dancing which turned thirty last year.

Jayne said: “It's in celebration of Grease's 40th birthday this year and Dirty Dancingwas 30 last year. Our band will be playing songs from both these iconic soundtracks and as usual the crowd will be singing along.

"We tried out some Grease songs - Grease and You're The One That I Want plus Hungry Eyes and Time Of Our Life from DD - at our movies special last month and the crowd went bananas for them.

"They are both such iconic movies that spans generations so right up our street as we have punters from 21 to 60 in our audience. We just hope no-one gets injured attempting the lift!"
